Naresh K Agarwal

Naresh Agarwal, who joined the Simmons College faculty in Fall 2009, is awaiting his PhD from the National University of Singapore (NUS)'s School of Computing. The title of the thesis he submitted is, "Information Seeking Behavior and Context: Theoretical Frameworks and an Empirical Study of Source Use." His research interests are information need, seeking and use, information seeking and sharing in organizational settings, informatics/health informatics, source choice in information seeking, context, human-computer interaction, knowledge management and IT adoption. He has published in many of these areas.  From 2007-2009, Agarwal served as the Chairman of the Association of Pacific-Rim Universities Doctoral Students' Network (APRU DSN), comprising PhD students from 42 leading research universities. Prior to entering the PhD program at NUS, he worked for 6 years in the voice-over-IP, bioInformatics and digital cinema industries. Among other things, Agarwal has been a debater and public speaker and likes to paint in oil and watercolor in his free time.
