Personal Information

Date of Birth:              30/03/1978

Nationality:                 Argentina / USA

Research

I do research on soil and plant biogeochemical relations in response to driving factors, the use of process oriented models to explain changes in soil carbon and nitrogen relations, and the adaptation of ecosystems to changes in the environment.

Research during my PhD thesis focused on the flux of carbon dioxide from soil surfaces in natural ecosystems and the environmental factors which control it. This flux, known as 'soil respiration', is one of the main natural sources of carbon dioxide, with important implications for climate and ecosystem processes. I explored relations of factors such as gross primary productivity, temperature and soil moisture, with the respiration of roots, mycorrhiza, and soil microbes.

I am now working with soil incubation data to find more general temperature-moisture  and carbon relations across soil types and exploring ways of improving model performance for soil carbon stock predictions.
