I am a political researcher based in New York with varied experience on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs. I am a recipient of the prestigious Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program, which provided me with a full scholarship to complete my MA at New York University in Comparative Politics. My thesis at NYU was on the political role of the Egyptian Ultras groups. The thesis discusses the contentious relationship between the state and society by focusing on the post-revolutionary politicization of these groups, and I was recently invited by the American Research Center in Egypt and the Arab-Turkish Congress of Social Sciences to present my research.
My research focus is on democratization, state-society relationships, and the political role of social and grassroots movements within the Middle East.
