Classroom Experience

Twenty-three years in the classroom working with autism and other developmentally

challenged students, age 5 to 21. Familiar with: ABA, PECS, TEACCH, Miller Method, SI,

OT, PT, counseling,

IT Integration

• Effectively engaged over one hundred severely involved students with autism in

technology-aided activities promoting metacognition, decision-making and language

acquisition.

• Obtained $400,000 in grants to update school building technology

• Piloted the use of video resumes in NYC as an effective tool to capture student progress

for New York State alternate assessment.

• PowerPoint and video presentation: “The Value of Video Resumes in Assessing the

Performance of Non-Testable Students” at Special Education Principals Annual Meeting,

2004.

• Designed the original site on Autistic Spectrum Disability for the New York City

Department of Education. Compiled the first comprehensive guide to Department of

Education programs and services for ASD students

Audio/Video Production

• Produced 3 documentaries for the NY State Department of Education: “Career

Education for the Autistic Student” (26 min.), “Computer Assisted Writing for Language-

Impaired Students” (9 min.), “The Culinary Arts Program” (11 min.)

• Created original programming for Special Education students,including educational

videos, video yearbooks

• Served as official school videographer and documentarian for 17 years

• Produced a twenty-year historical perspective to honor retiring principal
