Just testing...

Hello Ladies,

This is a duplicate of the message I just sent you via email.  I just wanted to test out the zotero group discussion feature.

Shortly, you will be receiving an email invitation for the Zotero group ‘Chautauqua Cattaraugus Full-Text.’ This group is a place for us to gather resources related to our goal of creating a Cha/Cat full-text digital archive collection.

Currently in the Zotero group I have included a link to Buffalo Full Text, which is the inspiration for this project.  If you have other examples to share, please do so in Zotero.  Also in Zotero, I have posted links to the online book sites referenced on the Buffalo Full Text site.  This will give us a starting point when we begin looking for resources to include.  Again, if you have other similar sites, please post them in Zotero.  Note that when you connect to a Zotero Group through Zotero.org (not the plug-in), you are seeing a listing of the most recently added materials.  To view the full library of content available in that group, scroll to the bottom of the Recently Added Items list and look for “See all ## items for this group in the Group Library.”  Click on the provided link to see the full library and its subfolders  FYI - Unless someone knows something I don’t, it appears that everything you add to the Group automatically gets dumped into “Library” even if you added it to a sub-folder.

Prior to actually gathering full-text resources, we need to define our scope and policies related to inclusion of resources.  Here are just a few things to consider.

1.     What types of resources will be included in this archive?

2.     Are we strictly talking about full-text books and periodicals that are available digitally?  Or, might we also want to include digitized historical images or other resources?

3.     Someone (can’t remember who) suggested expanding to include Warren County, PA.  Thoughts?  If we agree to add Warren Co, do we want to go whole-hog and include all the counties in JCC’s service area (Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany counties in NY, Warren, McKean, Potter, Forest, Elk, and Cameron counties in Penna)?

4.     As we progress through this, we will need to determine a method of organization for the LibGuide that will house this collection (I’m assuming we’re all in agreement that a LibGuide is the best option) and our process for adding to, maintaining, and weeding the collection in the future.  Please share any thoughts you currently have about either of these.

Since we have trouble finding times when all of us can gather for a meeting, let’s try to discuss this via email for the time being.

Have I forgotten anything?  Are there any concerns you have with this project?  Do you see any glaring omissions or problems in what I’ve laid out?

Thanks!

Amy
