Amanda Martin

I am a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech in the Environmental Water Resources Engineering Program. I am current working towards my MS of Environmental Science and Engineering with Dr. Marc Edwards. My research areas include exploring Assimilable Organic Carbon (AOC) generation mechanisms in premise plumbing and the relationship of AOC to opportunistic pathogen growth in plumbing and water heaters. I earned a BS of Environmental Science from Virginia Tech in Decemeber 2009, with minors in Biology and Chemistry. I have interests in sustainability, water resources, environmental microbiology, aquatic chemistry, environmental social justice, and soils.Outside of research, one of my biggest passions is animal welfare and rescue. In addition to working in an Environmental field after graduation, I hope to volunteer or create a non-profit animal rescue.
