Matthew Cochran

Matthew Cochran studies Classical Chinese literature, with an emphasis on philosophical works written during the Han Dynasty. His current research centers on Yang Xiong's 揚雄 (53 BCE-18 CE) philosophical treatise, the Fayan 法言. Additional research interests include early poetry and intellectual history.

Matthew received his Master's of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in 2005 under the tutelage of Stephen Durrant. Classes for which he has acted as Graduate Teaching Fellow, Teaching Assistant, and Teaching Associate include Chinese language, Early, Medieval and Modern Chinese literature, Introduction to Buddhism, and Classical Chinese language.
