Gingivitis symptoms are a serious sign that a disease process is occurring in  your teeth and gum line. Gingivitis is described as the early stage of periodontal gum disease whereas periodontitis is the latter stage of gum disease. At first, gingivitis symptoms may not even be evident; however, as the disease of the mouth progresses certain characteristics become evident. 

There are naturally occurring bacteria that reside in the mouth. When the body's immune system or hygiene habits are compromised, the bacteria get the upper hand and grow out of control. Any gingivitis treatment that fails to deal with bacteria, will ultimately fail.
