Marie Léger-St-Jean studied at the Université de Montréal before crossing the Atlantic to enter the Ph.D. program at the University of Cambridge. Her past research covers seventeenth- and eighteenth-century British criminal biographies, 'Frankenstein', 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde', 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', classic Hollywood adaptations of these works, the reality-TV show 'America’s Next Top Model', its contestants’ subsequent blogs, and a song adaptation of Gus Van Sant’s movie 'Elephant'. In her doctoral thesis, Marie hopes to give a comprehensive account of the penny publishing market and its material, economic, and literary genealogies.

Sa recherche a parcouru les 'criminal biographies' britanniques des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles, 'Frankenstein', 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde', 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', les adaptations cinématographiques de ces œuvres durant la période classique d'Hollywood, l'émission de télé-réalité 'America’s Next Top Model', les blogues subséquents des concurrentes et une chanson à propos du film 'Elephant' de Gus Van Sant.
