Jens Skou Olsen

Jens Skou Olsen, born 1962 - associate professor, ph.d. fellow, composer, bandleader, arranger, doublebass player. Leading the Jens Skou Olsen Group and co-leading the Hess/Skou Quartet. Tours and records with among others Maj-Britt Kramer, Benita Haastrup, Sanne Graulund, Chris Cheek, Gregory Hutchinson, Nikolaj Hess, Marc Momaas, Yuya, Tangoorkestret, Katrine Suwalski Another World and Marie Bergman. Jens Skou Olsen has since 1992 along with his artistic practice been deeply involved in high level teaching and the development of the new artistic conservatoire educations in Denmark. Since 1997 Jens has been a driving force in the leeding and coordination of the state financed jazz & improvised BA and MA degrees. He is holding an Associate Professorship at the Rhytmic Music Conservatory since 1997 heading the Art & Performance faculty. Jens has co-initiated and designed the structure for the Research & Development Unit at the Rhytmic Musik Conservatory which he was heading 2006-2008 and he is presently focusing on his research, teaching, lecturing, counselling and artistic practice.
