I'm writing a Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Conversing with the Database: List Genres in New Media" that looks at list-making and online collaboration. Sites I discuss include Wikipedia, social network pages, Top 10 blog posts and comments, and commercial sites such as Amazon.com.  I also explore the connections between online list-making and the hardware and software subtending the Web.

I am always looking for documented discussions by those who made the standards and technologies associated with the Web, including TCP-IP, the relational database, and HTML.
