The Haunting (Mahy, M. 1982) is one of my all time favourite books. I see it as Margaret Mahy's most outstanding work.

I aim to show how it can be read using methods of critical analysis developed since it has been written, and show how Mahy was thereby in a sense ahead of her time, and how these methods of analysis reveal as-yet unread layers of understanding of her work, both fiction and non-fiction.
