John Gledhill
I am Max Gluckman Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. I specialise in studies of Latin America, especially Mexico and Brazil, though I have also published on more general and comparative themes, particularly in Political Anthropology. I am a past chair of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and Commonwealth (2005-2009) and currently a Vice-President of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, responsible for organizing the Union's 2013 World Congress. I have been awarded a three year Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship from October 2010 to September 2013 to work on the consequences of the securitization of problems of poverty, inequality and international migration.
