Joanne (Jo) L. Belasco, Esq.
I started at my nonprofit, Tapestry Institute, as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Sponsored Research Officer in 1998, and served in that capacity until September of 2007 when I accepted the mantle of President. I initiated and developed Tapestry’s Horse-Human Relationship Program in 2001, which has since grown into the new Horse Ibachakali program of horse-mediated mindful learning about the relationship between humans and nature. I received a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 1993, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (1990) from Boston College. I worked as an attorney for the Boston Police Department for five years and was Editor-in-Chief of Law Enforcement Publications for Quinlan Publishing for 2 years. I am an ecopsychology educator and carry out scholarship in the fields of ecofeminism, spiritual ecology, the horse-human and nature-human relationship, climate psychology, trauma psychology, positive psychology, and mindfulness. I have recently presented talks about the Horse Ibachakali program to meetings in the Front Range area. I am also an experienced professional riding instructor, clinician, and horse trainer and have worked in that capacity since 2007.
