I am a writer, returned to the university after a career as a newspaper reporter, working in the Washington bureaus of newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and USA Today.

I am pursuing a PhD in history and hope to write books of history that meet the standards of the aacademe and appeal to the tastes of the public.
