John M. Mueller
John Mueller has a combination of academic and industry experience. He is currently a faculty member at St. Edwards University in Austin. Prior to his appoint at St. Edwards, he spent time building an entrepreneurship curriculum and teaching entrepreneurship courses at Fresno State, Western Michigan University, and at the University of Louisville (during his doctoral studies). His research interests include entrepreneurial finance and how new, young and small firms handle their financial and accounting activities; technology entrepreneurship; and sport entrepreneurship. He has presented his research at various conferences, won awards for reviewing scholarly articles and received research grants from various organizations, including the Kauffman Foundation.
Prior to his PhD studies, he started and ran several businesses over a 10 year period, including GolfSolutions.com LLC, SmartBond Inc and Colorado Software Architects Inc. In additional to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Mueller worked for a Taiwan venture capital / incubator, was a consultant for an investment bank, was a vice president in Jack Nicklaus' golf course construction operations, was a consultant to small businesses in South Africa, the Middle East manager for a business development company, and a staff consultant working on United Nations claims for Arthur Andersen in Kuwait after the Gulf War.
Mueller holds a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville, an MBA from the University of Illinois, and a B.B.A. in management information sciences from Southern Methodist University.
