Curriculum Vitae
Objective: To enhance lives through education. Although this is a broad objective, influence on education can take many forms: participating at the legislative level, contributing to accreditation processes, partnering in shared governance with college administration, and teaching and learning in the classroom. My life has been (and continues to be) enhanced by education. I want to model the benefits of life-long learning to younger generations.
Skills: A varied career and educational path through life has enabled me to acquire many skills that contribute to achieving the objective above. Studying marketing has helped me understand the perspective of the audience. Working as a CPA gave me the financial skills to analyze, interpret, and construct budgets. These skills also opened a doorway into the political process by enabling me to serve as the treasurer for our faculty political action committee. My Spanish education gave me skills to communicate with, and understand the complex diversity of the Hispanic community in Arizona. Most importantly, teaching in the classroom has helped me understand how learning takes place and honed my presentation skills to convey complex messages to broad audiences.
