InVisu

The joint research unit InVisu (USR 3103), whose focus is on visual and textual information in art history, is the fruit of a partnership between the CNRS and the INHA. It was founded on January 1, 2008.

Its purpose is to develop methodological approaches to art history through experimentation with new information technologies. New tools and methods enable digital technology to contribute to the development of art history and to the broadening of its fields of research.

The activity of the joint research unit concentrates on collaborative research in the emerging fields of the discipline (modern architecture in the Mediterranean, historiography of Islamic art), which entails the establishment and processing of new corpora (graphic collections; dispersed, diverse multilingual data; the virtual collation of sources).
