Social anthropologist with focus on 1) kinship, relatedness and representations of social organisation 2) land and nature use, particularly in agropastoral context 3) war and slavery (bondage, pawning etc) in a comparative perspective 4) history of technics and science.

Area of expertise and fieldwork : central and northern Eurasia, mostly Turkic and Iranic speaking; 12+ years of regular wanderings in the "new Central Asian" realm.

Working languages : English, French, German, Kazakh-Kirghiz, Persian-Tajik, Russian, Turkish and Uzbek-Uyghur.
