Archaeologist and art historian, with degrees earned at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. Completed the Ph.D. in History with a minor in Ethnohistory at the University of Chile. Helena Horta currently works as a researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Arqueológicas y Museo R.P. Gustavo Le Paige of the Universidad Católica del Norte in San Pedro de Atacama. She has been devoted to the investigation of pre-Columbian art and archeology of the south-central Andes, with particular emphasis on the cultures of northern Chile (Arica, Atacama). She has participated in Fondecyt projects research delving into different aspects of social processes that characterized the Late Intermediate and Late periods, and has published several articles dealing hallucinogenic complex, Prehispanic identity and visual languages.
