Reader, writer, red-head.  Expertise in nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century American literature, with an emphasis on Western American literatures and film. Current project examines the evolution of Thoreau's writing in the context of the shifting field of natural history at mid-century.  Next project: C19th communitarian movements.
