Greg Van Alstyne
Greg Van Alstyne is a designer, teacher and futurist. He is co-founding director of Strategic Innovation Lab (sLab) at OCAD University in Toronto, Canada, where his research includes emergence in innovation ecosystems, futures of digital media, and next-stage design thinking. With more than twenty-five years in strategic communications, experience design, visual thinking, brand development and service innovation, Greg’s focus is “designing for emergence”: working with deliberation and imagination in teams, firms, institutions and collectives to envision and bring about a better world. Among his recent projects, Greg is Service Director for DesignJam, was co-investigator for the SSHRC-funded Digital Governance project, and co-author of 2020 Media Futures. Prior to OCADU, Greg led the Institute without Boundaries (IwB), was Creative Director at IconNicholson, NY, founder of the Department of New Media at MoMA, New York.
