There was huge excitement generated when US President Barack Obama announced during his State of the Union' speech to Congress, on 12 February, that he would launch talks with the EU for a free trade agreement. That enthusiasm remains strong as officials on both sides get down to the more mundane business of spelling out what precisely they are going to negotiate. We have to contribute researching to provide support to difficult legal, commercial and political decisions to be taken in the coming months.
