This group library is part of an assignment for Zach Whalen’s class New Media: The Virtual and the False (ENGL 376MM) at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. We are The Jokers, a group of three students in the class. Our first task was to research and report on an already-finished, “classic,” alternate reality game (ARG). We were assigned to Why So Serious?, the ARG that was the viral marketing campaign for the film The Dark Knight. On October 29, 2009, we presented our findings to the New Media class. The second part of the assignment was to follow a contemporary ARG and create an archive documenting the progression of the game as it happens. We decided to follow Valemont University, an ARG created by Electric Farm Entertainment and sponsored by MTV and Verizon Wireless. This Zotero library attempts to encompass about a week of following the ongoing ARG through documented websites, texts, images, and more.
