Course Outline:
This course allows students to investigate and reflect on a broad variety of issues centred around the story of 'the self' in the 20th century. The documentary series we will view offers a critical approach to understanding 'public information', from the birth of the public relations industry to modern election campaigning techniques. We will also briefly consider the social role of the documentary films and the mass media which distribute them.
