This project aims at foregrounding the multidisciplinary concept of figure in the context of the current debates within the field of visual studies. Our main purpose is to restore the concept’s interdisciplinary potential, to endow the figure with new spatial and progressive dimensions deriving from the thorough consideration of today’s artistic practices, and to add to a better understanding of the factors behind the concept’s ability to travel between disciplines. The research project is funded by UEFISCDI through the “Young Research Teams” program (PN-II-RU-TE-2014-4-0787), currently underway at CESI, University of Bucharest (01.10.2015 – 30.09.2017).
