When addressing sustainable architecture and urban design, an emphasis is usually made on efficiency and performance, regarding specific parameters referred to fixed standards. The cultural components related to these in a context of shifting climate conditions and growing human demands have not been sufficiently problematized and remain a field open to exploration. This Seminar will attempt such re-consideration in three lines: human perception and comfort; traditional construction patterns; and contemporary architecture paradigms.
