The Centre for Editing Lives and Letters (CELL) develops archive-based research projects of relevance to the period 1500 - 1800.

Established as a Research Centre in July 2002 with funding from the AHRC, CELL is now independently established as part of the academic landscape of Queen Mary, University of London.

CELL's research agenda supports projects that pilot innovative methodologies and practices aimed at making archives matter, and that engage energetically with the wider community. We also offer seminars, events, a skills-based postgraduate training programme and have a thriving community of doctoral research students.
