Legal History Seminar: Building Baltimore, University of Maryland School of Law
Law students will work together with graduate student in history to consider Baltimore’s environmental history. An inquiry into selected decisions of Maryland courts will serve a vehicle for inquiry into the public choices that shaped the city and determined the quality of its life. Among the controversies to be considered are those relating to: water and sewer services, streets and highways, housing, pollution, public health, racial discrimination, landmarks, open spaces, parks, port development, public transit, and education.
Special attention will be given to the legal documentation involved in the resolution of these cases (the dockets, transcripts, depositions, exhibits and working papers, etc.).
