Museums, dealers and collectors all face increased scrutiny as an ongoing series of scandals highlight weak points in our authentication and preservation systems. The application of science and technical art history have helped address important issues in the authenticiy, repatriation and preservation of art and material culture. Responses to the ongoing destruction of heritage by extremist groups has led to a series of preservation inititatives and advances in digital preservation.
