Giazú Enciso Domínguez

Assistant Professor at the Psychology Department in the University of Houston Clear Lake. Prior to joining UHCL, Dr. Enciso Domínguez was a visiting scholar in the Interdisciplinary Studies Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice at City University New York (CUNY). She also conducted her postdoctoral research in the Sociology Department of The Graduate Center at CUNY.

​Dr. Enciso received her Master of Science in Research in Social Psychology and her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Enciso is a member of the American Psychology Association (APA) Divisions 35 Psychology of Women, and 5 Quantitative and Qualitative Methods Section Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology (SQIP). Her research interests include affect and emotions, gender, diversity and higher education.

She is a mentor and founder of the Critical Interdisciplinary Studies Research Group made entirely of undergraduate and graduate students. ​Born and raised in Mexico, Dr. Enciso is a feminist scholar and activist. Her pedagogical philosophy is student-centered; she believes students have the resources, ideas and potential to be an active part of their own education.
