I am a research student at the University of St Andrews currently working on a project which examines the foreign relations of James VI of Scotland with the rest of Europe during his personal reign in Scotland.  This research follows the methodology established by diplomatic historians working on Tudor or Hapsburg relations in this period, and applies these to Scotland to establish for the first time a detailed study of the numerous and complex relations James VI pursued in the late sixteenth century,  My wider research interests include the broader development of diplomacy in the early modern period.
