Employment History:

 

Music Librarian, Brown University, 2001- (Performing Arts Librarian, 2004-)

Heads one of three branch libraries on the Brown campus, responsible for 120,000 vol. collection of books, journals, printed music, and media with staff of 1 ½ and student staff of 18-20. Introduced online streaming audio reserves, set-up digital audio workstation for digitizing analog audio sources and working with grad students and faculty launched two new online collections (Koetting Ghana Field Tapes and Invested in Community: Ethnomusicology and Musical Advocacy). As Performing Arts Librarian, worked with Theatre Dept. to evaluate and resize their departmental library, worked with students to catalog the script collection and provided numerous instruction sessions to classes and individual students in the department.

 

Acting Head of Humanities, Brown University Libraries, 2006-2008

Served as Head of Humanities for the Scholarly Resources Dept. where I worked with other humanities specialists to set and monitor objectives, served on Institutional Resources and Planning Group where book and journal budget decisions were made, Helped establish and continue to serve on the Outreach Committee for planning and implementation of Outreach Activities of the dept.

 

Head of Information Services, Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, 2000-2001

Worked with the SysAdmin to provide e-mail, Novell directory services to faculty and staff.  Worked closely with Johns Hopkins IT staff to introduce new services and to negotiate needs of the Conservatory campus.

 

Instructor in Music Bibliography, Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, 1985-2000

Established the first required Master’s Level Course in Music Bibliography. Designed the syllabus and introduced an “early” online web-based course



Head Librarian, Arthur Friedheim Library, Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, 1976- 2001

Directed the activities of the library of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University with a fulltime staff of four (including Tech Services staff) and student staff of approximately 25.  Introduced first ILS, supervised retrospective conversion, created first library website.  Worked with architects and construction team on the new library completed in 1990.
