Alex Hope

Dr Alex Hope is a recognised expert in Sustainable Development, Energy Policy and Project Management. Alex has worked in private and public sector management positions across a diverse range of sectors including retail, local government and construction. He is currently Lecturer in Sustainable Development and Project Management at Northumbria University where he teaches on the MSc Project Management programmes and BSc Construction Project Management and BSc Architectural Technology degrees. 

Alex's research focusses on energy policy and sustainable development at the community and local scale, as well as sustainability in project management. His work has been published in top academic journals such as Energy Policy and specialist media outlets such as The Environmentalist and PM World Today. He also contributes to a number of high quality blogs such as the London School of Economics Impact of Social Sciences blog, the Thesis Whisperer and his own blog Dr Sustainable which has been listed in the Guardian Higher Education Network.

Alongside his academic work, Alex is the founder of One Planet Management, an ethical and sustainable business consultancy which specialises in aligning the principles of Sustainable Development, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics with business and project management. He is also highly experienced in green and sustainable building methods and renewable energy systems and a qualified BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessor.
