I've used Zotero while writing a book on "America's International Civil War" and I am very impressed with its capacity to collect primary and secondary sources, organize notes, and most of all the cite as you write facility. I've run into a few snags along the way and have found AdamSmith and the others on the Zotero Forums extremely responsive and helpful.  I'm urging graduate students to learn Zotero early and use it to prepare for exams as well as assist with research papers.
