Chair a department with 400+ enrolled majors in 4 distinct degree programs (2 self-designed programs): Integrative Studies, Liberal Studies, Health Communication, & Applied Communication; advise and schedule courses in the Global and Intercultural Studies co-major and interdisciplinary programs (Asian American Studies, American Studies, Black World Studies, International Studies, Latin American Studies, & Woman and Gender Studies)
Devise and develop curriculum, design and implement assessment plans, devise and develop Governance reflective of structural changes to the institution
Manage daily running of the department including: oversee departmental budget, facilitate departmental meetings and workshops, create course schedules, assign service tasks to faculty, supervise administrative assistant, liaise with marketing and Service-Learning offices
Mentor and evaluate 6 fulltime faculty members; compile annual review reports; run teaching and service workshops for probationary faculty
Participate in divisional council and chair meetings, divisional curriculum committee meetings, annual leave and course release discussions, and regional campus restructuring debate sessions
Design and teach seminar courses and independent studies in Global American Studies, Integrative Studies, & Film Studies; review per semester over 100 self-designed degree plans; and advise per semester 30+ Integrative Studies & Liberal Studies majors; monitor student progress and retention.
