Daniel Promin
Daniel Promin is a sculptor and craftsman.
Promin was born in 1973 in Brooklyn. He graduated in sculpturing at the Academy of Fine Arts in New York under guidance of Professor Michael Kratohvil. Later on Promin became his assistant. His works mainly consist of sculptures made of ceramics and with non-figurative shapes with associative meanings and accented volume.
In 1994 Promin was for the first time exhibiting at a joint exhibition at the School of Applied Arts in New York, in the department of ceramic techniques. Two years later he completed the post-graduate studies at the Master Workshop of professor Anthony Riss in Chicago. Promin presented his first solo exhibition in Brooklyn, and at the time donated three of his sculptures crafted in porcelain techniques to the School of Design and Arts at RISD.
Between 2000 and 2015 Daniel Promin has been working at the Academy of Fine Arts as an assistant. In 2010 he was awarded by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation to study in Paris.
Since 2012, Daniel Promin also works as a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Broklyn. He lives and works as an independent, professional artist who has held several solo exhibition in cities across the nation and in Europe. Today, Promin is a member of the Association of Applied Artists and North American Community of Artists.
