i have a background in manufacturing and in wine tourism, but spent most of my working life as a freelance artist in very applied fields some of which, like human and puppet theatre costumery, i loved and others of which (textile design) I detested. found happiness studying rather unusually late in life, an undergraduate degree in humanities. want to major in linguistics and go and work in Nigeria, my passion and fascination. in southern Africa i am drawn to the history of technology from eighty thousand BP on ward, to the history of the Khoe people and in central and north Africa to the history of writing, textiles and language, and the digital media and multilingualism, but generally anything about this continent is interesting to me, from farming to new literature, politics, and inventions that overcome our strategic hurdles. I am working on ideas for non-fiction books and want to meet other researchers.
