I am a sociologist who teaches qualitative methods to doctoral students in nursing, business, higher education, and industrial psychology. My academic research and publishing center on social movements, particularly on the use of social media, music, and art in activism. Current projects include MENA revolutions and social media; Occupy art and activism, Cultural resonance and protest effectiveness against femicide in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico, Riot Grrrl movement longevity and change, and North Dakota housing policy research. I am interested in creative and activist pedagogy and in the development of Public Sociology Ph.D. programs.
