Casey R Hickerson
Currently, I'm a Research Associate with the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, working with the CTAT group to produce web-based intelligent tutoring systems for middle school mathematics. This August, I will join the Information School and DUB Group at the University of Washington to pursue a PhD in information science, focusing on human-computer interaction.
My research interests primarily concern the emergence and evolution of creative instruments, e.g., design methods, tools and techniques. I'm especially interested in diagrammatic techniques of information management in design and their use in alternative contexts. By investigating such instruments, I seek to uncover how they facilitate innovation within and across domains. Additionally, I'm interested in cognitive aspects of creativity, research methods in design, interaction design methodology and pedagogy and ubiquitous computing in the urban context.
