Bruce W. Clary

I have taught at McPherson College since 1983. I teach courses in composition, American literature, fiction, creative writing, journalism, editing, Web design, multimedia storytelling. I also serve as adviser to the student newspaper, The Spectator. I earned the M.A. in English at Wichita State University and the Ph.D. in English at Kansas State University. My major areas of study were 19th-century American literature and textual bibliography. My dissertation is titled “‘My Splendors are Menagerie’: Emily Dickinson’s Fascicles as Poetic Scrapbooks.”

I have long been interested in the use of technology to enhance the teaching/learning process. I taught one of the college's first word processing courses in 1985 and taught composition in the networked computer laboratory as early as 1993. I developed the first Web site for the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press, and my fiction and creative writing students usually publish online.
