Retirement offers one much more time to get fully involved with a hobby.  The one which interested me was researching myfamily genealogy.  This can become very challenging and fullfilling  Not only does one discovery the ancestors with whom one has ties to but you also learn so much more, such as history, geography, customs, family tradiitions and many other matters of interest.  This tends to gives you a sense of belonging here and now but also how you are linked to the past.  It give you a whole new overview of how life goes on.
