Barbara K. Iverson,Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Journalism at Columbia College Chicago  Barbara is a mid-life journalist, having been an elementary school teacher, educational researcher, and a multimedia producer, before moving to journalism in 1999. She has been a teacher for 30 years. She has a Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis from UIC.

Iverson is the site administrator, publisher and editor of the community/citizen journalism website, Chicagotalks.org, which she co-founded with Suzanne McBride. She is interested in how citizen journalism and professional journalism are being shaped by electronic communication and digital information. Iverson is also looking at  the influence of open source methods and access to data on the economics of journalism.
