Bill Jacobson
Technology Strategist - Social Alliance Network
Community Builder – Calling Back the Salmon
I’m an experienced and innovative community developer who understands howto use technology to support and cultivate powerful and purposeful human relationships.
In my early career I was a public administration professional and I led successful initiatives to help local government address the community life of seniors, restore culturally valuable historical buildings and sites, and improved community outreach communication. I also developed alternative energy conservation and generation proposals for a major utility provider.
Later, working as a “home-based” Technology Consultant and Trainer, I provided software and communication technology services to IBM Business Centers throughout the Southwest. As a technology strategist for a fortune 1000 organization, I developed and oversaw the implementation of a shared network environment that delivered a graphical user interface to forty offices nationwide, and a Hardware/Software/Server leasing model that would ensure long-term access to current technology.
In 1993 I opened Bill Jacobson Internet, providing web development and Internet access service. I developed interactive and action-oriented websites for numerous small business, corporate, government, NGO and grass roots constituencies.
Today, as Community Builder & Technology Strategist for Social Alliance Network,
I bring this wealth of expertise, insight, and creative ideas to people who recognize that technology can enhance purposeful relationships.
What makes Social Alliance Network and me different from many technology companies is my ability to filter unnecessary technical posturing and information and replace it with strategic action, whose results can be easily measured. I am about isolating, overseeing and implementing open-source technology that builds balanced, productive and meaningful relationships between people and the community they serve.
In addition to my work with Social Alliance Network, I serve as community builder for Calling Back the Salmon, Lead Tribal Representative in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission dam relicensing for Maidu Summit Consortium, and am co-founder of Sierra Salmon Alliance.
