Austin F. Mullings
I am an MA Clinical Psychology candidate at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. My main research interest is human adaptation to traumatic stress. Specifically, studying the self-regulatory processes and mechanisms that influence this adaptation. My research focus is geared towards understanding how these processes explain equilibrium, disequilibrium, and resilience in trauma survivors.
Presently, I am looking at coping self-effiacy (CSE) beleifs and motivation. My thesis is investigating a model of human adaptation to trauma by examing how people's CSE beleifs influence their motivation to engage in either emotional or environemtnal self-regulation. Further, I am interested in how the balance between emotional and environmental self-regulation influences psychological outcomes folllowing a traumatic event.
My secondary research interest is Non-Linear Dynamic Systems Theory. I am interested in deterministic and stochastic differential equations as well as inverse modeling. These mathematical equations allow the opportunity to further understand the system of non-linear processes of human adaptation to trauma.
