I am a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin. I am studying art-making as a reflective practice among student teachers. I want to find out what can be gained from art as a research methodology to advance their teacher-artist identity. My ultimate goal is to understand how arts-based research can impact the pre-service teaching experience. Basically, I want better-prepared art teachers who succeed in the field. I think beginning as reflective practitioners is a great start to successful teachers who remain in the field.
