Responsible for managing all services and functions of the Circulation/Reserve units for Odum Library, including:

 

  • Providing management for circulation department open to the public 144 hours per week
  • Overall responsibility for personnel management for department staff of 10 full-time and 2 part-time library assistants, including interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating
  • Arranging for staff scheduling and coverage, including emergency circumstances
  • Monitoring, analyzing, revising, and realigning department workflow, staffing, and scheduling to optimize resources effectiveness and efficiency
  • Administrating student workers in library; overseeing a $200,000 budget; preparing budget estimates and requests for additional funding; performing ongoing work related to budget and expenditures.
  • Assessment and handling of difficult patron situations, including security concerns
  • Overseeing all aspects of circulation policies and procedures, and effectively resolving related issues and problems; interpreting and communicating to public and staff regarding policies/procedures and the automated circulation system.
  • Overseeing overdue borrowing policies and procedures, including interfacing with BANNER and Voyager systems
  • Monitoring technical functions and equipment, where appropriate; notifying applicable staff regarding problems with processes and equipment
  • Assisting in promotion of and continuous improvement of effective library and library materials security
  • Maintaining statistical records for the department, and preparing narrative and statistical reports of departmental activities; prepares incident reports.
  • Assisting patrons by checking in and out library materials, renewing materials, authorizing and issuing community borrower cards; performing all others aspects of circulation duties as needed.
  • Participating in special activities as assigned; assisting in planning and implementation of programs and events for public and staff.
  • Keeping informed of professional developments.
  • Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.
