Zotero supports the use of several unique Identifiers:

• International Standard Book Number (ISBN).
• Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
• PubMed Identifier (PMID).
• International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).

You can directly add items to your library using an ISBN, DOI or PMID identifier.
