Samuel Steinberg

I completed my Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and hold an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine. Before starting my current appointment as Assistant Professor at Denison University, I taught at Indiana University and Trinity College.

My research and teaching engage modern and contemporary Latin American literary and visual studies, with a special emphasis on the intersections of representation and politics. I sustain this emphasis across a range of topics and media, reflecting on the artistic and political legacies of the Latin American sixties, the question of aesthetic autonomy, and the relations among architecture, photography, and historical thinking.
