My work in folk music and folk music festivals has led me to consider the larger questions of human creativity and sustainability within networks of popular musics. I am re-examining the idea of industrialization that occurs at the intersection of individual creativity, the politics of aesthetics, and the political economy of musical culture. I am currently exploring what the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze may have to say to these concerns and ethnomusicology more generally.
